Ganked from the web

when I was a kid, I thought Fletch was pretty funny. I still think Fletch is funny. My point being, MTV talked with Zach Braff this week about his involvement with the long-in-development Fletch Won. He says that producer Harvey Weinstein wants to do a “traditional Fletch” like the original movie starring Chevy Chase.

He also talked about Kevin Smith and the questions around why he left the project that he had long labored on with Jason Lee set to play the title role. (hint – its because he’s fat and unfunny. “Passion of the Clerks”! Golly, what a clever reference! And timely too!) but that Scrubs and Spin City creator Bill Lawrence may be writing the script. Finally, when asked about him playing Fletch, he said:

“they’re huge shoes to fill…if people see any similarities, he was a goofy guy who wasn’t your stereotypical magazine poster boy, but he had the ability to be a great everyman. If I can set out to do anything in my career, it would be to play people that the people can relate to. Those are the parts I’m most interested in doing.”

The Fletch movies are perfect for people who like things that are good. So if you’re a big jerk, don’t even bother. Kevin Smith hasn’t done anything funny in 10 years.
